Can I register online?
Yes. Just click on the "SIGN UP" button on any course page and enter your information with the online registration system.

Can I register over the phone?
You sure can! Just call us during regular business hours at 204-956-4708 and we will be happy to sign you up over the phone.

Where do I go for my classes?
Unless you are given notice that a class will be held at a different location, all classes begin at PrairieView at 464 Hargrave Street just north of Notre Dame Avenue. A staff member is at the front desk on the second floor to direct you to your class.

Is there parking nearby?
You can park right on Hargrave Street or in the metered parking lots near the school.

How big are classes?
All our courses are designed to offer an ideal student-to-teacher ratio, usually from 6 to 18 students per classroom.

What do I need to bring to class?
Bring the camera and lens you normally shoot with (see below for equipment faq's), plus a pen and paper if you wish to take notes. Some courses require additional equipment, but if they do, you will receive prior notice regarding what to bring.

Do you offer private lessons?
Yes. We offer tailor-made private lessons to individuals and small groups. We will be happy to custom design a course for you, from a simple two-hour tutorial to an entire series of classes for groups of any size. Please call the school at 204-956-4708 or send us an email to find out more.

Do I need a DSLR to attend?
In order to take full advantage of courses and to participate in all the hands-on activities, we strongly recommend bringing an SLR/DSLR with you each week. If you do not own one yet, see if you can borrow one from a friend or family member for the first few classes. That way, when you do go shopping for a camera you will have a better idea of the kinds of features you would like to have.

Is my camera a DSLR?
SLR type cameras have interchangeable lenses. It should say in your manual or on the camera box. If in doubt, check the Wikipedia article on DSLR cameras or try a Google search on the camera model you own.

What if I don't have a lot of photo equipment?
Some of the most famous photographers in history were known for working with a single camera and not more than one or two lenses. As long as your camera is in good shape and you learn how to use it properly, you can produce images to be proud of.

I need photographers to cover an event I am organizing. Can you supply student volunteers?
In some cases, the answer is yes. We believe that PrairieView, its students and graduates can play an important role in the local community by supporting worthy causes. However, we can only help out if the following requirements are met.

1. The positions were specifically created to be filled by volunteers. We are happy to lend a helping hand to an organization or an event as long as it does not interfere with working professional photographers seeking assignments. If there is a budget, no matter how modest, to pay for photographic services, it should go to one or more of the hard working, dedicated professional photographers in our community.

2. Most others involved in the event are also offering their products/services at no cost. For example, if the catering service, audio/video company, DJ, models etc. are all volunteering and/or all the items in an auction have been donated, then we may also consider volunteering. If, on the other hand, most or all of the other service providers are being compensated, and/or auction items are being purchased, it is only fair that all photographic service providers should also be compensated and all photographic products should be purchased as well.

3. The event and/or organization is non-political, non-religious and is, in our opinion, of benefit to the overall community.
